Hi, Iām Vanessa de Guzman
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Vanessa De Guzman is a Registered Provisional Psychologist based in Calgary, Alberta. She works with children, teens, and adults, with a focus on child and adolescent therapy and individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in trauma-informed care.
Vanessa uses a range of evidence-based approaches, including play-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is especially passionate about supporting children who may not yet have the words to express their experiences, creating space for them to communicate through play in a way that feels safe and natural.
She brings a culturally sensitive lens into her work, particularly when supporting fellow immigrants and families navigating different cultural expectations. As a native Tagalog speaker, she offers services in both English and Filipino, allowing clients to express themselves in the language that feels most comfortable.
Outside of her work, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Bowie and Lucky, who are a big part of her life. She also values being outdoors, going for walks, and spending time in nature.
